All programmes are full-time and are designed to prepare young artists for a professional career in opera. The selection of new students takes place annually by competetive audition held in front of a jury. To apply:
- You should be at least 20 years old and have completed upper secondary school or its equivalent; in addition,
- You will have excellent general musical skills and musicianship and are likely to have already completed several years of study at a music college or equivalent;
- You should be free of any voice or speech impediment requiring special treatment and able to take part in regular physical training;
- You should be able to take part in a series of entrance auditions to be held in Stockholm March 22 – 26, 2010.
Those with little or no knowledge of Swedish are welcome to apply, but successful applicants will be required to study the Swedish language during their time at the college.
- Students are responsible for their own living expenses, but at present there are no tuition fees;
- Operahögskolan does not provide scholarships;
- Operahögskolan does not participate in exchange programmes with other similar institutions.
